Intayon Festival: A Celebration of Culture and Community

 The Intayon Festival is one of the most meaningful celebrations in Ilocos Sur. The term “Intayon” comes from the Ilocano language, meaning “let us go” or “let us come together.” This festival highlights unity and culture, as locals proudly showcase their traditions, food, music, and colorful performances. I personally love how it brings everyone together, making the entire province feel connected and alive.

During the festival, visitors can enjoy lively street dancing, cultural presentations, and traditional costumes that reflect the rich heritage of the Ilocano people. I especially enjoy seeing families and students participate with enthusiasm, showing that culture can be celebrated by all ages. The event also promotes local products, such as handmade crafts and regional delicacies, which makes me appreciate the talent and creativity within our community even more.

The Intayon Festival also strengthens community bonds. Neighbors collaborate to prepare floats and decorations, students practice dances together, and families cheer for the performers. Witnessing everyone work as a team reminded me that festivals are not just about fun—they’re about sharing experiences and creating memories together.

For me, the Intayon Festival is a powerful reminder that traditions are treasures to be preserved and passed on. Experiencing this celebration made me proud of our heritage and inspired me to learn more about our culture. Festivals like this keep the spirit of Ilocos Sur alive, showing us that culture is not just in the past—it lives in our hearts and daily lives.

ISNHS celebrated Nutrition Month this July by organizing exciting contests that brought out the skills and talents of students. It was a time when creativity was unleashed and teamwork became evident as learners participated with great enthusiasm. Guided by the theme “Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority, Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin” , the celebration emphasized the importance of access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food for all. Nutrition Month served as a reminder that health should always be valued and that wise choices about what we eat can greatly affect our well-being.
